COLOUR MIXING & THEORY    10^th-12^th  February 2009    Fully Booked

This course will cover ‘colour theory’ which is relevant to all mediums:  on the first evening we will do some experimental colour mixing and make a ‘colour chart’ not the usual one!  The colour chart is invaluable in getting to grips with what colour you need to add to your basic colour to create the shadows.  (for instance a terracotta pot – which colour will create the shadows while retaining the basic colour).
This is followed by two full days when we will explore more colour theory and produce finished paintings based on these ideas.



SKETCH & PAINT    9^th-11^th  June 2009     Fully Booked

On the evening session Ronald will demonstrate techniques with pencil and pen & ink using a variety of different instruments and papers.
You will be able to try these out on the following days if you wish.
We will visit a local site to sketch something and then come back to Acton Parish Hall to turn your sketches into paintings using a medium of your choice.
This course will include tuition in using your choice of medium.
What if weather does not permit?   We can get into one of the churches or Beeston may have somewhere under cover or even Gary’s Locks. We will have somewhere lined up!
There will also be a lot of discussion of composition during this course.


ACRYLICS & MIXED MEDIA   27^th-29^th  October 2009

On the first evening Ronald will demonstrate a painting in acrylics and oil.

Acrylics can be used alone or as a mixed media. An Acrylic base with added Pastel is very effective or an Acrylic base over-painted in oils. Acrylic can also be used in a watercolour style and of course there are any number of additives that can be used with it.

Ronald will bring various mediums and supports: if you would like to try a medium that you have not used before you will be able to purchase just what you use at very modest prices.
